Tickets for deposit holders went on sale Tuesday for the new women’s soccer team that will play under the banner of the Portland Hearts of Pine club.
Over the summer, Portland put 5,000 non-refundable season ticket deposits on sale for $25 apiece. The deposits sold out in an hour.
The women’s team has not yet been named but is expected to have its own identity. They will play in the USLW, which is a pre-professional league mostly for college-age players. The team will host six home games at Fitzpatrick Stadium from mid-May through June.
On Tuesday, tickets went on sale, ranging in cost from $14 per ticket for standing area ($84 for the six games) to $43 per ticket for midfield seats ($258 for the season). Also available are seats in the High Roller section for $165 per ticket ($990 for the season).
Jeff Haines, who lives in Saco and bought 12 deposit slots earlier this summer, said the process for his family has led to “a lot of excitement, from the preplanning meetings we have been to, and (we) are looking forward to the name of the team as well.”
Fans who made the deposit began receiving emails Tuesday. Those who received them have seven days to buy tickets. The club is breaking up the 5,000 deposit holders into different selection windows, which were randomly drawn. Currently, the club is selling to Window Three.
