BREAKING NEWS: Michelle Akers, the soccer legend and World Cup superstar, will be a Founding Advisor to Maine’s new USL W team that kicks off next year.
Akers will attend the third annual Heartsapalooza celebration Thursday at Thompson’s Point where she will be formally introduced to fans.
“I’ve been drawn to Maine because of the way Mainers show up for their teams and their community,” Akers said in a press release. “There’s so much heart here. When I saw what Hearts of Pine was building and the unprecedented way the community embraced this club, I knew I wanted to be part of what comes next.”
The women’s team has not yet been named.
Heartsapalooza is free and open to the public. Doors open at 4:45 p.m.
